Cagayan De Oro City
May 15, 2011Water Rafting Adventure
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
Finally i can say that I have been into Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao! Just this year i got a chance to attend a technical working group meeting which was held in Cagayan de Oro City. Cagayan de Oro City is the city of golden friendship and the gateway to the northern mindanao. On the last two days of our conference we had an opportunity to make a memorable experience with awesome roar and power of water cascading over rocks and boulders. From the hotel we have stayed in we travel 30 minutes in going to Brgy. Baraga Dansolihon which is a starting point of begginers for water rafting. The where many water rafting tour companys that provide a touring services for those who like to do water rafting. Before you touch your feet the water and get wet the official water rafting tour company will provide 15 minutes water rafting orientation to the tourist.
For us the P700 we spend were worth enough for the four hours water rafting adventure along the rocky river with a panoramic view of the river’s rocky walls, untouched vegetation and the sight of the resting haven of monkeys and snakes. It has breathtaking rapids that provide the more adventurous with thrills and challenges of rapids interval not less than 10-15 minutes of each other. If you are sporty and likes outdoor adventures this is a right place for you.

Aside from water rafting adventure we also had a chance to play golf at Pueblo De Oro Golf & Country Club.
Goind to Mt. Hagnini-e 4 Hours on Foot
November 16, 2010
Despite of the road condition, the floods, the danger that we might get stranded in the mountain, yet we pursued to conduct a home visit to one of our beneficiary at Mt. Hagnini-e whic could only be reached by walking 4 hours on foot at the river just accomplished the child progress reports deadlines. It was very long and tiring journey but very exciting and enjoyable one. After we reached out the top you couldn’t explain the feeling of overwhelming experience and breath taking scenario at the top of the mountain. By the time we are about to go back, it was noon tme already but I was almost run out of water and we are just luckly enough that there were many fruit trees along the trail so we had a chance to get some of the fruits to heal our thirst and hungry stomach. We had Bungon (in Cebuano) or Kabugaw (in Hiligaynon) which serves as an energy drink and galangan and bayabas to fed our stomach.
We have accomplished our mssion, and we are very thankful that we went back to offce safely and with bounty experience and wth extra pack as “pasalubong” for our colleagues and officemates.
Trip to Roxas City
November 14, 2009
This November I was given opportunity to go to roxas for a consultation meeting with local goverment units. Well, that was an advantage for me because Roxas City is my moms birthplace and my aunt and uncle are still living in there. The consultation was lasted for a week and during our last day we’ve been given a chance to roam around and visit the beautiful and historic places of Roxas City. We went to Santa Monica Church which is located at Municipality of Panay just five kilometers away from Roxas City.
In that church you could see the oldest and biggest bell in asia but during our visit we were so unlucky because there were mass going and going to the top to see the biggest bell while there is mass scheduled is strictly prohibited by the priest. At first it was prostrating because we taught we could see the real biggest bell but all in all we are still fortunate that there was a reflica of the bell which can be found just outside the Santa Monica church. Also we were given a chance to a get inside in their mini museum where in you could see the oldest chruch documents and stuffs. After our visit to the Santa Monica church we went to Wendy’s Garden where in you cant different kind of plants and animals. After visiting wendy’s garden we dropped by at the roxas market where we bought various kind of “UGA” dried fish. Cool… right!
Pan-ay Santa Monica Church
November 11, 2009

In 1566, Fray Martín de Rada is said to have preached the Gospel in Bamban (Pan-ay) and from there he proceeded to evangelize Dumangas to the south. The Augustinians continued to spread their net of evangelization to the south and west of Pan-ay until they had established footholds in the whole island. By the late 1500s, they had been had been the sole evangelizers of Panay island until the Jesuits arrived at this time.
Because of lack of food, Miguel Lopez de Legazpi transferred the Spanish settlement from Cebu to Pan-ay in 1569. The town was formally founded in 1572 (1581 according to Jorde), although by that time Legazpi had moved the capital of the Philippines, further north, to Manila. Fr. Bartolome de Alcantara was named the prior of the town with Fr. Agustin Camacho as assistant. A prosperous town due to trade, Pan-ay became capital of Capiz for two centuries, until Capiz was named capital. The town name was eventually given to whole island. After 1607, Fr. Alonso de Méntrida, noted for his linguistic studies and Visayan dictionary became prior. In the 18th century, Pan-ay was famous for its textile industry which produced a cloth called suerte and exported to Europe. In the 19th century, Don Antonio Roxas, grandfather of Pres. Manuel Roxas, opened one of the largest rum and wine distilleries in the town. The Augustinians held the parish until 1898, when administration tranferred to the seculars.
The first church was built before 1698 when it is reported that a typhoon had ruined it. In 1774, Fr. Miguel Murguía rebuilt the church, but it was later damaged by a typhoon on 15 January 1875. Fr. Jose Beloso restored the church in 1884. The church is best known for its 10.4 ton bell popularly called dakong lingganay (big bell). The bell was cast by Don Juan Reina who settled in Iloilo in 1868. Reina who was town dentist was also noted as a metal caster and smith. The bell was cast at Pan-ay from 70 sacks of coins donated by the townspeople. The bell was completed in 1878. It bears an inspiring inscription which translated reads: “I am God’s voice which shall echo praise from one end of the town of Pan-ay to the other, so that Christ’s faithful followers may enter this house of God to receive heavenly graces.”

Masskara Festival
October 21, 2009
Masskara Festival is one of the awaited events that every bacoleno’s has been waiting for. Colorful costume, amazing dance parade, live bands, popular artist and cool variety show this are just the few things you can see and experience during Masskara Festival. But this year i almost missed the experince watching and celebrating the masskara because i was so very busy in my work in fact we had a consultation meetings scheduled during the highlights of masskara. And because of Masskara Festivity it hassen our time in going to our meeting venue for community consultation because of the heavy traffic that it cause. And because of that we were forced to go the the meeting venue by foot and we have no choice because the meeting was already scheduled and we didn’t anticipated that circumstances. So we walked two kilometers from our office to the venu together with the volunteers and my immediate supervisor. I could still remember the feelings that we where like in a dessert walking under the heat of the sun and wer are just lucky enough that there were trees at the side of the roads that served as our sheild. Almost an hour after we reached our destination and just to refresh ourselves we looked for a “changge” where we could drink a very cold softdrinks and luckly we found one just one block away from our meeting venue. Well thank God eventhough we walked kilometers away from our destination still we are thankful that we able to conduct the meetings successfully. And to make ourself feel that we are still part of the masskara pose in every corner of the street just to take photos. In the end i still have a piece memory of Masskara 2009.

A night to remember
April 8, 2009My friends and i got an adventure trip to Cebu City. It was an amazing and exciting vacation I ever had in my life. Actually it was unplanned vacation trip because my friends and i just decided to go to have a vacation trip in cebu 3 days before we went to Cebu. We were eight (4 boys and 4 girls) in the group and we stayed in cebu for three days and two nights. During that two nights we really make it as fun and exciting like what we are all wanted.
